I've been a bit all over this year for art. I'm slowly getting out of a few month slump, but I still don't know where I want my art to go for 2020. Just here to enjoy the ride, I guess!

This one was especially challenging because I couldn't find enough reference & I got an art slump. (Don't like the outcome...) Initially I tried new technique (of painting right above the lineart, all in one layer), but it didn't turn out well so I just reworked. (Scrapped ver.)

I definitely fell into a slump earlier this year where I wasn't happy with my art and felt like I wasn't improving, but this made me realize that I've actually come a long way - from the start of the decade /and/ the start of this year!

Art slumps suck, but a pal inspired me with an awesome RP session a few nights ago! I couldn't help drawing their gnome as a warm up now that my semester is over. I'm a sucker for male gnomes that fall outside of the common tinker / mage tropes ... 😳

The Alien Fu on the other hand doesn't look like ET so much as the creatures from Critters (a cult classic sci-fi-horror-comedy also from the 80s) with maybe a dash of King Nikochan from Dr Slump! (dunno if he's actually based on em they're just the first things to come to mind)

I can't say my art has improved a lot this year, but I feel like my relationship to it has become better. 2018 was a bit of a slump for me, because I no longer had time to do art like I used to, but I've come to terms with it now and feel like I can enjoy it again. 😊
