Elisabeth was a daughter of a painter and she was mentored by her father. She was painting women’s portraits and using light dreamy colors. She became popular enough to be commissioned by Marie Antoinette.

도도새는 제대로 됀 박제조차 남아있지 않은데, 그 이유는 영국에 있던 유일한 박제 표본이 1755년에 불에 타버려서 머리와 발 일부만 남았기 때문이다. 박물관장이 벌레먹은 표본을 불태우다가 남은 걸 건졌다는 설도 있고, 큐레이터가 그나마 남은 부분이라도 보존하려 태웠다는 설이 있다.
