Fabulous magnolias now in bloom evoke G.D.Ehret’s illustration of Magnolia from Plantae Selectae 1772 held in Botany collections @Museum_Cardiff.
Ehret walked daily to the gardens of Sir Charles Wager to observe the magnolias there.

From 1772 he created some 42 patterns for the Royal Tapestry Factory in the Rococo style. He also pursued etching at this time, a medium in which he still remains famous. These tapestry designs are relaxed & charming images.
