Thread: Charles Demuth (1883-1935) was an American artist who connected European modernism to the States’ art scene. He created beautiful flower paintings, striking cityscapes & pictures of his circle. He died on this day.
Archibald Thorburn (1860-1935) (https://t.co/T43HkLGo1m) was a Scottish artist that specialised in wildlife, painting mostly in watercolour. "A pair of Golden Eagles" (1899) is a fine example of his fantastic skills. Love it.

Dr S has just said it’s early lunch. Oh well.I’d forgotten he’d been shopping even though I’ve had the Virgo lecture on price rises. These two advertisements are lovely. The Illustrator is Jessie Willcox Smith (1863-1935) who produced lots of this sort of thing, books too
Goncharova became a French citizen in 1938. Costume (1935), Book Covers (1936-7) & Ballet Souvenir Cover (1936-7). It’s notable that her illustrations are much more conservative than her paintings yet are captivating.
