We can't always be open about when we're overwhelmed because we're not always in a safe place to be public about our autism. If you're overwhelmed and need to get away, but can't allude to your autism, just say that you have a migraine.

I find that when you're open about an aspect of yourself that society is used to people hiding they say this sort of thing. Yes, I'm more than my autism, but it's still a part of me that I'm loud, and proud of.
