You know something that bothers me a bit in character design is when a character feels like they have a wig for some reason and i always try to look for workarounds.
Alien? Tentacle hair.
Robot? Solid metal plates.
Shark? Solid chunks of skin.
Etc

I'm not saying you have to add these, but here's some things you could consider adding if you wanted. Like zones sharing each other's assets, a title screen, and level chunks. I made these by the way.
