😅#dinodanshi

MS. Bodl. 264 contains lots of horses, but if you didn't already know that then we haven't been doing our job properly. There are intimate moments as well as battle scenes; here is Bucephalus hiding under Alexander's cloak during a storm. https://t.co/RrzqlYZUmA

Notice something flapping off the eye of this nosy Greenland Shark (Somniosus microcephalus)?

That's an eye parasite! It causes partial or full blindness over time, but its bioluminescent properties are thought to attract prey. Sharks have many other better-tuned senses anyway!

Did you know THERE ARE SHARKS WHO ARE OLDER THAN THE UNITED STATES?!

Those are the Greenland Sharks (Somniosus microcephalus)! They can live between 300-500 yrs, thrive in waters at freezing temperatures, & despite swimming at 0.76 mph, they are apex predators. Amazing!
