Mf can see in Infrared too 😭 He could save SO MANY PEOPLE if Marvel ever put this to good use

Take delight in Carina Nebula’s hidden secrets, as they were revealed by infrared light, using the HAWK-I camera on our Very Large Telescope.

The Japanese satellite, Akatsuki, has taken some amazing images of Venus in the far infrared, showing structure in its lower cloud layers. These images beautifully processed by Damia Bouic .

STAR WARS FACTS: TRANDOSHANS had eyes which could see into the infrared range & the ability to regenerate lost limbs. They were a warlike species, with many of them becoming slavers, or bounty hunters. They allied early with the Empire, taking Wookiees as slaves.

Take a look at this image of the Cygnus region. There are many star formation regions in this direction that are bright in both infrared (bright) and radio (high). But do you see the dark pillar in the background?

Galaxy on a ball. I am taking a short break from my Gaia mapping to create a projection of radio and infrared all sky data onto a sphere. The radio data is (unusually) used to create a heightmap and so it generates mountain ranges on the sphere.

A fantastic wide-field view of the Orion Nebula (Messier 42). The nebula is about 1350 light-years from Earth. The image was taken with the VISTA infrared survey telescope at ’s Paranal Observatory in Chile.

This spectacular image of the Orion Nebula star-forming region was obtained from multiple exposures using the HAWK-I infrared camera on ’s Very Large Telescope. This is the deepest view of this region and it reveals more very faint planetary-mass objects than expected.

On GOES 17 the infrared instrument (the ABI) gets too hot in the sunlight causing the images to get all messed up. Lightning does not like direct sunlight!

During the 'T-104' flyby, spied the Sun glinting off one of Titan's northern polar lakes. This view, using restored infrared and radar mosaics, shows the perspective Cassini had when it captured the reflection with its VIMS instrument. (📸2014-08-21)
