Here's my version of a back when he was starting at Atlas Academy! (Both school uniform and combat gear edition.)
One detail that I'm fond of is the rainbow order Dust cartridges, because I read Ironwood as gay and that was a fun way to reference that. 🏳️‍🌈

Do you ever see an art style and think 'I know exactly what character would suit being drawn in that style'? Well, that happened to me with JC Leyendecker and James Ironwood. There's something highly entertaining about drawing a cyborg arm in an art style from the 1920s!

For this younger James Ironwood design I basically threw all of the guy's existing uniforms into the hypothetical blender and mashed together my favourite parts until I got something cohesive. It's always good fun to try and design a new version of a character!

Some of the expressions in this challenge were rather intense, and this one was a particularly fun one to draw! I'm not sure who or what made James Ironwood so angry, but I suspect that they're probably about to have a very bad day of their own...
