I usually try to go for a psuedo lineless style, coloring the inside lines and shading with either darker versions of the og colors or completely different colors (I never shade with black cause I think it makes things look muddy)

Next I do undertones using teal, red, and yellow. This helps the skin look more alive and less grey. It’s important to know where to place each color in order to not make the colors above muddy or weird looking. I then lower the opacity of this layer to about 25%

despite what "color shading tutorials" always warns you, I don't think desaturated color shading should be demonized tbh.

Not everything should be 🌈sailorm00n pastel/neon aesthetic✨. Sometimes grimy muddy dull color works best bringing the "dark edgy feel" of a work

I feel like you can fix the "muddy" feel with different colored lineart

black lineart makes it bad to look at

use it right, and it makes your artwork looks gritty like 90s OVAs
