Trunks for sure. Love that classic look. Paul Pope's trunks on Batman in Year 100 are great. Rafael Grampa's Superman suit is almost film ready, just needs a Frank Quitely style short cape.

I think both Superman looks are valid in context:

If is EARTH BASED (made by Clark or Martha), the Trunks fit.
Because that look is product of Earth's history with the classic Circus strongmen, old 30's movies & teather.

If is ALIEN BASED (kriptonian) i think they DONT fit.

The final character of the original three characters I was commissioned to do. This design was always one of the weaker ones for me. They basically just opened up Cap’s mask, added red trunks, and gave him an “S” shield. I tried to blend a little more.
