Mortiser 1: Lookout Base / Doom II / Vanilla / 2000 / MAP01 / by Sam Woodman aka "Metabolist"

This simple techbase is crammed full of Doom II trash monsters. Sam's texture set and design reminds me of the clean, banded look that is popular today.

Ballistics / Doom II / Vanilla / 2000 / MAP01 / by Sam Woodman aka "Metabolist"

At one point, this was cut from Hell Revealed II's original running. The 2000 version is a bit easier in not forcing you to dive for ammo and giving you the BFG earlier.

Advent is such a magical time isn't it? I wish I could join in properly with this year but am really enjoying everyone else's. I'm delighted that my work for last year is coming out as a real calendar with Woodmansterne next Christmas.

00_E2M8 / Doom / Vanilla / 2001 / E2M8 / by Sam Woodman aka "Metabolist"

Sam's earliest level, released for what I can only assume are reasons informed by nostalgia. It's an ugly and weird E2M8 replacement with a congested, three-cyberdemon finish.

From https://t.co/kilbtjUGM3 comes this political cartoon. The text on the site says it depicts: "Red Riding Hood as the people of Ireland, wolf as the landlords...and the “brave Irish woodman” as the hero coming to save the Irish from the villainous landlords.

OK, Woodman surely understands value of crown and it’s good to watch twig playing with new shiny toy, but they’re not my intended visitor...
Maybe his majesty’s hands are full and no time to come here...

Ockham Complex / Doom II / Vanilla / 2001 / MAP01 / by Sam Woodman aka "Metabolist"

A short outpost that fuses techbase and tan brick. It's a nice bit of action and fares better than some of Sam's other levels which lean hard on hallway slaughters.
