Storyboards for the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari remake concept. Depicting the rise of a far-right fascist dictatorship, the film's coloring shifts from a vibrant expressionist inspired palette to a limited, recognizably dystopic style as the movie goes on.
For the short film's credits, I doodled the two non human characters as early Ken Sugimori designs for #Pokemon as a last minute idea. This way I smuggled in a homage to my favorite videogame franchise :)

Due to death threats against Linda Blair from religious zealots who believed the film, The Exorcist, "glorified Satan", Warner Bros. had bodyguards protecting her for six months after the film's release.

The sprawling, layered, endless, opressive, colorful, collapsing city is the film's real protagonist

In MEMORIES OF MURDER (2003), actors look at the camera repeatedly, including in the film's final frame (bottom right). Director Bong Joon-ho did this to communicate to the real murderer, still at large, that justice would never stop looking for him; in 2019, he was apprehended.
Concept art by Amélie Fléchais for Song of the Sea (2014), dir. Tomm Moore, Cartoon Saloon
According to the Song of the Sea artbook, Fléchais played a key role in defining the film's visual style, working alongside art director Adrien Merigeau
Some more God Machine frames. The title of the film refers simultaneously to a sentient supercomputer that creates Prometheus and a missile called "God Machine" that acts as a major plot point in the film's depiction of a hypothetical World War 3.
How much do we love @mna_inah? So much that @flora_reesa just couldn't stop including little bits of it in the film's background design! Here are some of the early style tests for the museum, designed and painted by @flora_reesa and @pablonopicasso
Character design pages by Vashti Harrison for Hair Love (2019), dir. Matthew A. Cherry, Everett Downing Jr. and Bruce W. Smith
Congratulations to @MatthewACherry and the rest of the team for the film's Oscar nomination!

These warmups were pretty early on, probably my first week or so of working on #StevenUniverseFuture. My Stevens were still looking really young, and I didn't know his shirt would be black instead of the film's blue. Still, fun drawings.
Happy 50th Anniversary to ALL MONSTERS ATTACK (A.K.A. #GODZILLA'S REVENGE), released this day in 1969!
Although often dismissed as unsophisticated kid's fare, the film's examination of Japan's economic growth & its effects on children make for a thoughtful entry in the series.
The bounty hunter AURRA SING was first conceived in a sketch labeled "Babe Fett" by Lucasfilm's Doug Chiang. Chiang had made the sketch as a result of George Lucas' request to have more characters fill out the podracing sequence in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.👇👇👇
