Goodchild marries the boss's daughter and becomes partner in the business. Lots to say about wedding celebrations at his house on Fish Street Hill, see https://t.co/KkQKmlRzxR. Hogarth worked out his composition in two drawings https://t.co/pvVz9AxnxT and https://t.co/oRopkTEIku https://t.co/BOi5cEeHHa
C is for Cheese, well #Parmesan, to be exact! From @metmuseum Capodimonte cheese seller with a wheel of it, Italy, c. 1755, and in London, you could buy it from Mrs Holt's on the Strand, along with some Genoese #silk, Trade card after Hogarth, engr. c. 1794 by Anna Maria Ireland
Goodchild in charge of running workshop - women spinning, men weaving, child fetching and carrying, elderly porter delivering rolls of cloth. All seems to run smoothly, but Hogarth lets #cat and #dog suggest otherwise. Cat looks even angrier in preparatory drawing @britishmuseum https://t.co/b10DvwhQYm
B is for Beer. Served in a creamware mug, Staffordshire, c.1765, @V_and_A; and for its benefits see an engraving Beer Street, Hogarth, 1751, @royalacademy but also @V_and_A Thanks @fi_lor #beer
Hogarth's Industry and Idleness. Which apprentice weaver will become Lord Mayor of London? Which will end up at Tyburn? Can't resist showing sketches for the cat who's playing with Tom Idle's shuttle. Come and see them when @britishmuseum opens again. Next instalment tomorrow.
F is for Furloughed, so tweets from this account will be suspended until further notice. This figure is of a Spinstress or spinner, Meissen, c. 1750@ @V_and_A; and Industry and Idleness, Hogarth, 1747, @metmuseum
@JeanLucMeisel @RandleBraylon It's good to spread the word. I find younger artists who don't know about Hogarth. Not everybody needs the master classes, but they should know where to go to find them. Otherwise, they're stuck learning how to draw comics from Christopher Hart. 😩
Today is Easter Sunday and we have an appropriate picture from our collection for you - one of the wings of the Altarpiece for St Mary Redcliffe: The Three Marys at the Tomb. The huge triptych was painted by William Hogarth, 1755/56. The angel tells them that Christ has risen.
I had to redraw the comic strip I wanted and I decided to redraw this one from Drago by Burne Hogarth!
I am super happy with how it turned out but I didnt know if I should upload it on here,,,,

Today: St George’s Bloomsbury London
Look up if you pass this eccentric church
The lions & unicorns on the tower were part of Hawksmoor’s 1711 design (& are on Hogarth’s Gin Lane), but were replaced by the Victorians - too racy!
@WorldMonuments put them back
Today's British print @britishmuseum by William Hogarth: John Wilkes MP on trial for seditious libel in 1763 shown as leering hypocrite upholding Liberty as convenient slogan. But, with slight adjustment, image was used by supporters of Wilkes. Warning! Caricature can backfire.
@_GonzaloPastor, good move following me! It’d be an even better one if you followed William Hogarth @artisthogarth 🙏. Cheers, @andreitr
@cvidal_EstuansI, it's good to have you here! I know William Hogarth @artisthogarth would love to have you, too 😉. Cheers, @andreitr
Sadly, outdoor hobbies like fishing are not permitted at the moment, but works like William Hogarth’s A Fishing Party remind us of the importance of enjoying pursuits for their own sake - whether that’s reading a book, painting or even doing a crossword.

Here's Hogarth, who's part of a Half-Spider species I made up for my campaign ^^ ✨
He actually isn't part of the main party; he just likes tagging along with them from time to time and causing mischief for fun~
He was based off of an IRL spider @skythepikagirl nicknamed- x3c
@onidraws Somebody who captures the feel of something’s character (psychology) rather than focusing purely on their psychical attitributes. Examples are Daumier, Otto Dix, Grosz, Hogarth and Gerald Scarfe. They tend towards political cartoons but the style also is seen in Asterix books.

You are who you choose to be…
The Iron Giant and a little Hogarth. A great animated movie and a real tearjerker. Watch it! https://t.co/KMyAzOI0JI
Too large to carry Uglow’s book on Hogarth around, so will read it on Kindle!
And another local connection - Sarah T's father was Joshua Kirby, a friend of William Hogarth who had a house in Chiswick (now open to the public). Hogarth encouraged the young JK and produced frontispieces for his books on perspective - check out the attached! https://t.co/alqtDypnYV
