Early concept for a nuclear-powered Mars mission, using hydrogen drop tanks and a winged 16 ton lander that can return to the main craft using its own hydrolox engine.

Using the most-advanced computers of that time, by 1952 Los Alamos built and tested Ivy-Mike, the world’s first full-scale hydrogen bomb. It achieved a yield equivalent to 10,400,000 tons of TNT. (Photo: Los Alamos)

Always interesting to find anything visible in the Outer region. It is clearly visible in hydrogen but does not show up in Gaia as a clearly separate arm.

In this HI4PI hydrogen velocity map, we can see various dots that represent masers that have both velocity and parallax measures. They are colour-coded based on spiral structures. This seems clear enough but ...

Solving the mystery of the third quadrant. I could not find a catalog of HI4PI shells/bubble in the 3rd quadrant so I started working on one and I noticed a simpler pattern: 5 hydrogen streams that wend their way past the bubbles, connecting the local material to the Perseus arm.

The region in my doodle shown as the Dehcho delta is full of atomic hydrogen (HI) bubbles. A couple of these are referenced in the scientific literature but can't find anything about the others. do you know of any sources for HI4PI bubbles?
