My brother had "Serf City" (The alt name for "The Settlers") on his PC, back in the day. But I was a staunch Amigan, so I kinda dismissed it as a simple port with a SVGA mode. But I wish they'd put a high-res interlace mode in the Amiga version. It's so nice to have a wider view.

But now I've been checking out "The Settlers." Which is an excellent wee medieval Sim City-ish game, with more of a focus on roads, mines, and a little combat. The DOS version, though lacking the music I love, has used the extra colours and resolution well. (Amiga then DOS pics.)

Serf City / The Settlers was such a brilliant game.
The combat never grabbed me - probably because they just fought one at a time, so there wasn't much advantage to a bigger army. But I loved building sprawling cities, and trying to set up a roading network that didn't suck. 😋

Governor John White returned 1590 to Roanoke, the first English colony in North America, only to find it completely abandoned, the 118 settlers gone without a trace

As the platform consumed the fuel reserves below, the settlers of Suruptu built neighbourhoods along the oil tank's massive walls, with industrial bridges and residential zones slowly making their way towards the central axis.

We live in a settler society where an Indigenous elder can be disrespected, and the white perpetrator can get away with millions of dollars in a settlement. Remember whose land
you are on.

Made an Elven Aeta (indigenous people and possibly the first settlers in the Philippines) during my work break. They are called forest spirits in some regions of the Philippines so I had to paint them as one ^^

Random idea I had. French Imperial battle mage who rebels against a settler colonial society while coming to terms with how they helped build it. I realize now that it's like Avatar but with magical Martini Henrys. But Magical Martini Henrys.
