I wanted to have Link with that pattern, but thought that the band of his hat and his brown undershirt should need some patterns too.

@cincyon I tend to keep my "consistent clothes" simple (blue pajamas, black overshirt w/ white/silver undershirt with black pants, both based on actual clothing I have), but am not shy about spicing it up with random outfits, myself.
