The C64 hosted a dozen or so darts games, but this was easily my favourite. With decent graphics and sound, loads of daft humour and fun gameplay, it really hits the bullseye – especially when played with friends.

Rack It 1988

Inspired by Armalyte, Salamander and thrash metal, this budget blaster is far more polished than most cut-price games. With excellent graphics & sound & great gameplay it's a lot better than many full-price shoot 'em ups.

Mastertronic 1985

AFAIK this is the only computer game based on a packet of crisps, but I could be wrong. Even Weetabix had its own game in the 80s. Riding around town, collecting items & trying to ride the rollercoaster is top fun.

I Ball! I-I-I-Ball! This original blaster is perhaps best remembered for its superb speech – 'Oh no!', 'I Ball!' 'Game Over!' - & amazing Rob Hubbard soundtrack. A tough but fast, furious & highly playable game.

Chimera

Firebird 1986

At £3.99 Chimera was a bit pricier than your average budget title but it was worth it. Lovely colourful isometric graphics, a fab Hubbard SID tune & utterly absorbing gameplay make it an excellent arcade adventure.
