Hi game dev boi here, I've always been told to parent a controller with them both at 0,0,0 so that if you ever animate the root position for a game animation, it can be reset at any point. Here's an example. It also keeps things clean and all you have to export is the joint chain

I place SDV on both Switch and PC (with Xbox controller) and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I click the wrong buttons after switching. I've legit killed crops with my pickaxe and I hate it.
