Steps so far:

-clean line
-flats (not thinking about light or ambience, just base colors)
-lighting blocking

D&D character comm! I usually have more than one /quick/ thumbnail each (for pose, color, lighting)!

! if you’re having trouble with sketches try using a really wide brush then refine using erasers! Blocking in shapes first could help !

blocking out shadows and picking a palette! i don’t actually start with a full palette; i just select some base colors and then pick as i go. when i need a darker value, i add more saturation to keep my darker areas from getting muddy.

If you want to understand blocking in frames, honestly just watch film and take a few math courses. It is almost all correlating mathematics with human intuition. Angles, perspectives, and ratios.
