I spent a good chunk of the past month playing and finishing all of Touhou Meiiden's base game (defiant of shrine maiden). Coming from Ichigo Bose Touhou RPGs, this game is definitely my favorite Doujin RPG in terms of gameplay (despite the jank) and, uh, scenario.

i gave it a shot but the gameplay just isnt for me. i LOVE the character design but the flaws and unsavory parts of the writing in the early story + side manga put me off from going any further (looking at you azure waters). might revisit it one day

Sadly aside from its nice humor and some enemies design I still prefer lesser known games made with this engine, like "Bloodlust". An indie horror RPG with a unique quirk to its gameplay.

I was thinking about drill game (settings, gameplay, etc), and came up with 2 chars (more like overall ideas than final designs):
one I call "black unicorn" - girl with rainbow hair and mech styled as unicorn
another is "drill butt" - ninja neko robot with drill on her lower back

The Legend of Heroes: Kuro No Kiseki

Definitely the best start of an arc to any Kiseki game, this game man, is just so good. Gameplay wise it's the best Kiseki has ever been, adding positional, the combo counter is really fun to work with, specially with the new orbment system
