While the in-game graphics of the first Madou Monogatari game have a chibi look to them, this is what Arle, age 16, looked like at the time. This art style was abandoned after 1991's PC-98 release, which actually used it for the in-game graphics as well.

thank you for being respectful but I have to also respectfully disagree. The simpler styles have stayed clear and interesting with the characters where MGS1's dont really hold up, the BGs in MGS1 look really cool to me though
