When writing Gloria!, I wanted to contrast some things:
First, Lias and Mr. King. Both men made mistakes, but Lias is ready to own up, while Mr. King slips further into religious delusions

Not that anybody looks to me for illustration advice but I figured out a cool trick for colouring creatures unusual colours. Pick the unusual colour, then add browns and contrasting colours to make it more muddy/realistic.
