12. By day, 018 is a curator in the Saturnia Museum of Natural History. He works within the Paleontological wing, where he identifies fossils. He's been a dinosaur nut since childhood, and wears an amber dinosaur tooth from the museum gift shop everywhere he goes.
Living sharks + friends are cartilaginous fishes. This group split from bony fishes (all other less cool jawed fishes, including you) over 420 million years ago. The very earliest shark-relatives with complete fossils are various spiny things collectively called ‘acanthodians’.

What links a 415 Myo fossil, batarang-y scales, an upside down catfish (right way up), and these dashing ancient Britons?

I've also updated Fossil's reference sheet for the occasion since the other one was pretty outdated.
I'll likely continue making more reference sheets for my other Psychies as well while I am at it before artfight starts on July 1st.
A new species of giant rhino discovered in China might have been the largest land mammal to ever exist, being the size of six elephants and weighing 24 tons: https://t.co/oyO9OmbSKR #science #paleontology #fossils

Ugh, still no time for social media thanks to a manic workload. Here's some driveby #FossilFriday #paleoart of the Brazilian spinosaurid Irritator predating pterosaurs, from 2018, to keep my feed from drying up entirely.
Work In Progress. A big carcass always attracts a lot of carnivores looking for an easy meal. Detail of a larger and complicated piece that I plan/HAVE to finish today. There are still soooo many things to finish 😅 #paleoart #sciart #FossilFriday
DIGITAL ICHTHYOSAURS AND REBUILDING IN THREE DIMENSIONS - https://t.co/x41Z3JowXm After 200 years of study there remain many questions about the biology of the Jurassic fish-like sea dragons, ichthyosaurs. One for the whole family!

Why avoid the obvious similarities between these fossils, especially the NR-2 mandible, and Neandertals, particularly Krapina? That relationship is the interesting one, with clear relevance to paleoclimate changes. Nesher Ramla may be a likely Krapina source population.
@breezecast The shiny version of Pokemon's Relicanth comes to mind... they are so cool about their attention to real-life creature and fossil trivia
