the animation speaks for itself tbh, but Tetsuhito Saitō's storyboarding talents deserve praise too, especially the constant use of split-screen shots separating our fighters not with a clean line, but a gradient

I'll also put today's piece next to the underpainting (namely a Gradient Map overtop my value sketch). Focuses on cooler midtones, that way adding the warm pops of lights and darks really sell both the warms and the cools with not much extra effort

Very happy with how this turned out, was trying to figure out a good look for the interior section and I think it turned out well, also tested gradient+color options hence the "scorched" one, very fun pixel art today folks

gradient maps are a gradient applied onto your art,affected by how light/dark the value of the drawing is- in csp i typically go to layer -> correction layer -> gradient map, lower opacity to 20-30%, set mode to color/overlay/normal and it adjusts the colors according to value :)
