Perhaps I should've worded it better, but while the counterweapon to Pluton has also been referred to by the name of "Pluton", the original weapon has never been directly established to be a ship. Franky explains the ship was made as a countermeasure to the actual Pluton

I kinda wonder what our Pearl would’ve looked like under a “Pink Diamond” customization option because she does look out of place with her colours in relation to the other pearls. In the movie this was shown to be the default setting which explains all the diamonds colours.
