Here's just a couple quick examples of my Aniloids, including one of a "before and after" a hefty redesign to fit the X Era aesthetic. I think it is definitely something you could do.

Pretty much anything that is stylized and brightly-colored with some inspo from early 90-2000's toons/anime. Something akin to retro stuff. Also huge bonus for me if there's some sci-fi/urban elements.

Sonic.weird is based off weirdcore, which is a type of aesthetic, so Hog.vapor is based off vaporwave, another type of aesthetic.
