This week's #NCMArecommends is Claude Monet's "The Cliff, Étretat, Sunset," 1882–1883, one of three Monet paintings in the Museum collection.
Take a virtual trip to France with us through these accompanying photos by Museum docent Diane Beckman, who traveled there.
@GothCharlotte So many incredible and important artists were included in that exhibition. Die Nacht by Max Beckmann is one of my favourites too
Art History fun! Who wants to play? Recreate an image from art history with whatever you have around the house. My son & I chose Max Beckmann. Your turn! #arthistory #arthistoryathome #artclass #artchallenge @officialWCMS

Une question me turlupine. Il est dit dans le databook que Ben Beckman est le 1er gars à avoir rejoind Shanks. Pourtant dans le chapitre 565.5, quand Shanks aborde Yassop, on le voit seul. On a vraiment l'impression que c'est Yassop le 1er.
🤔🤔🤔
@agochase thanks for following! You might also like my other account - Max Beckmann @artistbeckmann. Cheers, @andreitr
Born #onthisday1884 Max Beckmann German #painter #printmaker #draughtsman channeled WWI experiences into haunting expressive images saturated in emotion symbolism & mesmerising narrative flirted with Expressionism to emerge as a leading Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity) artist
Beckmann’s work fell from prominence in the late 20th C but in the past two decades has had a resurgence & he is now recognised as one of the great artists of the 20th C. Elephants with Dancing Girl (c1944), Masquerade (1948), Woman with Mask (1948) & Perseus (1949)
Beckmann was a keen musician & instruments appear on his canvases as symbols of rhythm & the new Jazz age. The Synagogue at Frankfurt am Main (1919), Family Picture (1920), Carnival (1920) & the Dream (1921)
