Good morning!
Although the rainy season has not been ended yet,
the chorus of the cicadas sounds from early morning!

SUMMER is here, but heat will be up and up much later!

I love the Grandpa Judy Watson has created for our picture book Searching For Cicadas. He's one very cool dude and knows lots about cicadas.

I just love how Judy Watson has captured the Australian bush in Searching For Cicadas by Lesley Gibbes. This beautiful picture book is part of the Nature Storybook Series by Walker Books out in August.

Orange in forest of soul-eater cicadas as an intro for her askbox. :> This little creatures are really dangerous for dead people, cause they eat their souls and weave nests on the bodies.

Excited about Eric Gordon’s talk on fungal pathogens in cicadas today at 4:45 in Mutualism!

Felt like a sci-fi movie today...giant ants closing in. I think it was just cicadas. But they never stopped, the entire time I was out walking. Such a fun, creepy sound.

What I learnt from school was cicada lives under the ground for 8 years but that’s not true. There’re some cicadas spent only a year or 2-4 years. This one had 17 years. Implying the prime number? My game creation cycle is every 3-4 years. But being under ground as I keep making.

Leaves done, the tree bark is coming along now, more shadows and dimples to follow..... (and two more cicadas!)

If, like myself, you're a lover of curious natural history art, check out 's wonderful sculptures on Insta. These mixed media cicadas are sublime, I wish I could reach into the photo to touch them!

Heard the first cicada chorus for the season last night. It always reminds me of those long days of the school holidays when parents didn’t exist and it was just you, your best friend, your dog and your bike. These are not cicadas in the painting but the very shy Forest Horse. 🌿

20 - breakable
Nymph cicadas spend 5-7 years underground living on nutrients from roots. When they’re ready, they’ll emerge in the night, climb onto the nearest vertical surface and break out of their exoskeleton to molt into their adult form, leaving the exuviae behind

one of the most helpful ideas i've read in the recent past is "don't be afraid to be inspired"

anyway, cicadas are real important to me
