However, in a fax from Bob Harras, dated 4/9/91, Claremont is advised by his editor that “while I appreciate the notes on the plot to X-Men I have doubts about Charlotte Jones being the cause of the S.K.’s defeat. I think we’ll pump it up here.” 3/4

In all of this, Claremont’s love for Kitty as a character shines through, as does the respect that he has for his own character creation. He strives to give life to Kitty’s anguish and sorrow through a deeply method approach to her voice in the scene. Arguably, he finds it. 10/10

In UXM 183 Claremont takes the seemingly superficial concept of a teenager getting dumped and lends it a weight and interiority beyond all expectation. As Piotr breaks Kitty’s heart, she is run through a complex gamut of emotional responses to devastating effect. 1/10

L'Ours Démon a fait sa première apparition en 1983 dans la série 'The New Mutants' de Chris Claremont et Bob Mcleod.

C'est une entité maléfique qui avait pour objectif de détruire Danielle Moonstar (Mirage).

Building on this, Claremont and (especially) Davis would later use this aspect to symbolize Brian’s sense of being put-upon with Excalibur, of the inconvenience and intrusion the new characters represent to his nest, and possibly even the threat to his relationship w Meggan. 4/10

Claremont: "I have an idea for an X-Men book."
Marvel: "Love it. Print it."
Claremont: "I... I haven't pitched it yet."

The scene would later be altered and adapted by Peter David, who took over X-Factor, with some notable alterations and a less nostalgic tone. It is interesting, however, to consider the extent to which Claremont laid the new X-Factor’s foundations. The scene reads as follows: 2/6

Editorial intervened, however, and prevented that reckoning (and potential retconning) from taking place through a last-minute shuffle of the creative team, thus preserving Claremont’s long-developing character arc. 10/11

In a preview interview from Marvel Age 48, published one month prior to Issue XvA 1’s publication, Stern describes how he (like Havok) identifies with the previous X-Men and extensively discusses the problem with Magneto’s face turn in Claremont’s X-Men. 8/11

The variation is explained by Austin Gorton as follows: “Stern originally intended to use this series as a means to restore Magneto to villainy. However, the higher-ups at Marvel…stepped in (whether at the urging of Claremont or not is unclear) and nixed that idea” 7/11

Behold the end of the Mutant metaphor and Claremont's incredible legacy of x-characters being a metaphor for lonely, oppressed, persecuted, hated and marginalized people and HUMAN groups. The X-folk being just another variant of Deviants is just the last nail in the coffin.😣🤦🙄 https://t.co/9qooWD7NHo

There was so much to love from New Mutants 24 but the highlight for me was FINALLY acknowledging Illyana is suffering from PTSD. Many writers, including Claremont, have written Illyana as struggling with evil instead of she's suffering from PTSD. Thank you Vita!

— He wonders what Santa Chiara would think of them, a lost David and Jonathan, turning slowly on the spot.

For Holm, Claremont’s experience (and subsequent portrayal) of ‘Britishness’ comes “second hand via popular culture,” such as we see in his use of the very British “school days genre” to build the “Girls School from Heck” story arc. 5/9
