Four more gold funeral masks found in the shaft graves of Grave Circle A on the Mycenaean Acropolis, dated 16th century BC.

Schliemann thought he’d discovered the tombs of King Agamemnon & followers. Research shows the graves are older.

I made a mushroom man, his boyfriend belongs to uwo

His name's Yira! He's based on a Mycena mushroom and the mist he breathes is an aphrodisiac, you can guess why he's flustered constantly ;;0c he can also cover himself in gel with the same quality!

The Minoan Civilization existed from roughly 3000 BCE (Before the Common Era) through 1450 BCE. That’s about 5000 years ago!

Saffron Wave takes place in 1625 BCE, a few hundred years before the general time frame for the collapse of the civilization, before the Mycenaean Greeks.

I'm a socialist/progressive, so coincidentally I don't take offense to the "shitlib" moniker, but lets try to keep politics out of this, please.

Yes, the artistic trope & dichotomy of having tanned men and pale women goes back to Minoans, Mycenaeans, and even Egyptian artwork.

(Mycena cyanorrhiza)

I create manga/webcomics and write film scripts! I'm currently working on Erinys & The Seer (webcomic) and FVRY (film script)

Most of my current projects center around Mycenaean Greece (~1200 BCE) and ancient Greek mythology.

Whilst Homer's 'Iliad' recounts the overthrow of King Priam of Troy by Agamemnon of Mycenae, his 'Odyssey' documents the latter's murder by Aegisthus, the lover of his wife Clytemnestra.

It is something that actually got inherited by the conquering Mycenaean Greeks who often depicted men and women the same way to represent virility versus fertility plus male vs. female virtues. Centuries later this idea was even inherited by Classical Greeks, Etruscans & Romans!

...in fact, it was this Egyptian art trope that was repeated by the Minoans of Crete, the Mycenaean Greeks of the mainland during the Bronze Age, and way later by Classical/Hellenistic Greeks and even Romans with men being suntanned outdoors and women being pale and domesticated.

Another interpretation of the Mycenaean warrior vase, though I would think with all that bronze scale you'd be able to spare some for a helmet, unless its a sort of brigantine rather than riveted linen laminate.... who knows

sonia's turn! a fun fact, back in ye olden days of mycenae, depictions of goddesses and other beautiful women would have red suns on their cheeks and foreheads as well as a lot of dark eyeliner. they'd also be titty-out, but this is a pg-13 twitter

Thread: Some questions about "The Griffin Warrior tomb". The Griffin Warrior Tomb is a Bronze Age, Mycenaean shaft tomb dating to around 1450 BC, which was discovered near the ancient city of Pylos in Greece. This is what the content of the tomb looked like:
