Rembrandt Peale, artist, was born in 1778. He produced a self portrait at the age of 13 and later used it as an example for his students of how even the most accomplished painter began as an amateur in need of improvement.

Found this 19thC tile while walking near Long Melford. Medieval architecture appealed to the Victorians who longed for pre-industrial England. Dogs in the Middle Ages herded, hunted & protected. A 9thC prayer says: 'God preserve us from the Northmen & their terrible dogs.'

Beep beep. it's the birthday of the American still life painter Raphael Peale (1774-1825). I came across him when I was making my American art series, Big Skies etc, but couldn't fit him in. Peale was especially good at oranges and lemons. So they called him 'Citrus' Peale.

“The character appealed to me because I knew, as an actor, I was going to have to operate at the highest level of my intellectual and physical ability.”

Scatter Brained as usual. Another art piece that surprised me was this character commission from my DM for his Wife. The Overall description for the character appealed to me. For a while Ive been trying to diversify my body types when its comes to character design...

I was trying to come up with something to draw, and the idea of looking out of a glass bowl into the sea appealed to me. So I drew fearless Toni hanging out in a patchy glass sculpture she found at an art exhibition during her travels

“But luxury has never appealed to me, I like simple things, books, being alone, or with somebody who understands.”

What on Earth is George Shrinks?? Can't believe I've never heard of it!

Though my early childhood was shaped by the Arthur juggernaut, the ones that appealed to me most were Wordgirl, Peg+Cat, and Martha Speaks.

It might not have been very original or even particularly well written but there was an undeniable energy to Rob Liefeld's art that appealed to early 90s teens back when everything was radical and extreme !!!
