Frank Robbins. I love his comic book work. I know a lot of people don't. As a kid in the 70s, it didn't grab me. As an adult, I just can't stop looking at those brush strokes. His illustration work is quite different, and I wish there was more of it. Have a look:

I haven't used them in oil - these are both wonderful in watercolor. Both of them make different, and lovely, tones with blues. This is PO48 and looks like pthalo blue (probably PB15:1). A doodle in the park.
