Vulkan. I always thought it would make it more interesting if the salamander's gene trait about skin had more range. I like the idea of scaled, charred looking skin, clumping in only some areas of the face like some real world skin conditions.

After a quick search, I came across a creature known as the Muldjewangk. A giant breed of merfolk that hides under clumps of floating seaweed and destroy anyone that crosses into their territory. It's a tale told to children to keep them from playing in the river after dark.
