Today's progress (Day 5) on my daily practice, using references to improve my art.
Softened out the lighting on the skin and darkening the piece to emphasise the harsh light! Should have it finished tomorrow :D

The image is literally darkened, heres the normal colors, its gray, and has the red instead of fraxure's blue. If it was actually black, or if it had the blue instead of the red itd look better

a surprising failture

If you want to keep the shape of the hollow part, better to blur or darken the background behind the hollow part in the initial image. Otherwise you will get a whole block like this.
