Today Banbury hillfort is largely inaccessible and damaged by centuries of agricultural attrition. The ramparts survive in places to 2m high and the site still dominates the Stour Valley

is off to for a windy walk around the hill fort which dates from 300BC. Spot the sites of the round houses, a burial mound and storage pits. Imagine the fear when the Roman legions marched in to view in 43AD. Pub lunch, anyone?
