Almost every time in my career that I've felt that I was getting boxed into a style or approach, my instinct has been to change my approach.
I won't mend words: #BrokenBlades should have had more work put into it. Both level design and visuals are sub-standard and game mechanics feel stiff. I respect any creative project and can tell there's an honest effort, but I'd rather the developers rethink their approach.

In theory it means that surface has ‘controlled’ scratches going in same general direction.
My first tests turned out quite pretty, although requires multiple render samples unlike the analytic approach.
Day 65... I think I'm going to take a new approach and just sketch the characters to get a better feel for their designs rather than just diving head in. Definitely much a better approach.
