Honestly I kind of prefer the artstyle of the Gorillaz from the earlier phases. I'm just a sucker for thick angular lines outlines and the more cartoony style.

The new stuff is still good though!

non realistic artstyle isnt the point, the type of animation that the above use has renders and shading making it look almost 2d, as if it were drawn + lower framerates in certain moments

Call me controversial but I’ve never been a super big fan of shintani’s DB its great but I prefer the look on one piece.

At times the more cartoony stylizations it just doesn’t make moments feel serious. I Definitely prefer when its more uniform 🤝

I said this before but I wanna share it again: when I draw mao mao fanart, I like doing a centaurworld-type thing where mao mao is drawn in a more “serious” art style while adorabat and the cutie pies are all cartoony and goofy lookin
