"The Queen of Snakes", 2017.

This is the piece that made me fall in love with painting stone textures (I know, sounds boring), and the first painting I made with gouache. The original was varnished and now hangs in my studio :)

was able to record sorrow in a direct unvarnished way that it is never melodramatic. His art is a revelation backed by his own difficult life. Yet in spite of the sorrow he experienced he left us a legacy of beauty and engagement with life which was a triumph in the end.
