@PatheticSponge Actually, this style was on purpose. The Animation Director was Osamu Kobayashi (also storyboard artist and key animator on the episode) who was known for his limited and unique style.
I just found out about his death last year, which makes the backlash even more sad.
We love an edgy phase.
