The blue men of the Minch, also known as storm kelpies are mythological creatures inhabiting the stretch of water between northern Outer Hebrides & mainland Scotland. They wait in the depths for sailors to drown & stricken boats to sink.

Slavic are steeped in dark wild legends, and sorcery. To the Slavs they were more than entertainment; they were a way of life, providing a bond of the community’s values, beliefs and traditions.

Favorite fairy tale from Poland: The Glass Mountain. Boy kills lynx, uses its claws to scale a glass mountain. Then tricks giant eagle into flying him to apple tree that heals his wounds. He slays the eagle and the blood restores life to the dead princes below.

East of the Sun, West of the Moon is my first and all-time favorite fairytale. It was the first one that caught my imagination. I remember listening to the cassette with a huge poster on the floor - me kneeling or lying on top of it and enjoying it!!!

One of my favourite folktales is 'The Mermaid of Zennor'. It's a Cornish tale which tells about a mermaid who falls in love with Mathey Trewella, the best singer of the parish. The couple disappears and are never seen on land again.

A favourite fairytale for me was “The White Snake” due to the boon of understanding & communicating with all animals. Further, animals help the servant-hero complete impossible trials to win the love of a princess & then live happily with her to a ripe old age

In the tale of Cuchulainn, the dread Morrigan terrorizes Cuchulainn in multiple forms: a heifer, an eel, a bird, a wolf, and a cranky old woman, to name a few.

Terrified of the twisting tempest outside I have withdrawn within warm wide windowed wadding and feel that today of all days is a good day for a sad tale . Here is the saddest of them all . Here is Gelert . Enjoy https://t.co/Mn8YyeRiLx

Selkies on film: The Secret of Roan Inish (1994) and Song of the Sea (2014). Two movies so enchanting it's hard not to feel the call to the water yourself.
