2018… gotta give it to PreCure again. Junichi Sato gave us Hug and it was a solid celebratory season of the franchise, gave us Cure Infini, our first bonafide boy Cure, and gave him a very lovely boyfriend.

2013: Pokémon X/Y

Still my fav Pokémon games ever made and the franchise just peaked with Gen 6, even outside of the game. Also the first game I bought off my own money :)
Other than that, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance was an amazing game! Mario 3D World is cool too.

For 2015, my favorite game was controversial when it came to the franchise's fanbase: "Fire Emblem: Fates".

Specifically the Nohr route.

I'm still really upset that TreeHouse butchered the script, but the gameplay is very solid and fun.
