Space Monkey is a blend of Star Wars, Calvin and Hobbes, 90’s cartoons and Space Brat (anybody else remember that book series?). Wacky, colorful, a little bit more weird and violent than most books aimed for kids. Sort of thing I loved in elementary school.

transformations in shonen anime, at least back in the old days were something that felt really important to a lot us as kids.

genjutsu Itachi puts Naruto under in early shippuden, which honestly is one of my favorite scenes ever visually. There's Deidara's creepy ass hand mouths, Sasori's puppets, and Kakuzu and Zabuza would've been positively terrifying if this wasn't a show for kids.
