Yep, I remember when I was slightly younger that it blew my mind that they brought Optimus (Convoy), Megatron and Magnus back for the last few stretches of Japanese G1 and G2.

Then they all disappeared by the Maximal-Predacon (BW) era.
Optimus apparently became a Space explorer.
