My favorite aspect of this piece aside from the intricate rendering was the highlights/shadows--these were used very effectively in defining the Azuki's facial features ^o^ I also thought the bg. complexity contrasted and helped focus attn. on the Azuki!

Apart from the wonderful rendering of the golden sword & its shine, I admired in this piece how the facial expression & hair composition/flow complimented each other well (non-neutral states). I also thought the lighting & purple tinges were nice touches!

sure, they share a few facial features, but notice how they're used differently! Belles freckles have a carved on look (she's wood) while Boingkids are blended into his cheeks naturally, these other claims (rubber nose, two lashes)
also briefly toyed w the idea of giving them facial hair since they are older 🤔

So here is what I was explaining the other day. I go from proportions -> bony features -> surface features, before going into any further detail. This will establish a solid base with clear guides for placement of facial features. Hope this helps :)
