Today I did a little study.

The overall design wasn't important. I just wanted to improve in some areas.
While I kept the thickness of the outlines constant, I broke the rule in "form-giving" places.
Also I used a more atmospheric hue for the shadows. (I made them blue lol)

For years I've been using the same set of 6 watercolours for my illustrations. I finally went out of my comfort zone and got several new colours to try out (manganese blue hue, cobalt turquoise, purple lake) and I am loving the result! ✨🌊

When my Hope was first designed, she had a purple color palette. I went with a green hue instead, but I didn't want to leave the purple girl out in the cold void of non-existence, so she is now her own character, and this ship is titled "Hope x Esperanza"

Dirty "trick" to make your portraits look more alive:

Paint subtle saturated colors - I like reds and golds - in the shadows (B)
instead of having everything the same-ish hue/color as in portrait (A)

(Values are still most important, tough!)
