It's certainly possible that this trope is a WW2 legacy. Other villain tropes supposedly have similar origins, for example bad guys having facial "scars" might have come about from Mafia bosses and Nazi Generals having scars as well.

While, admittedly, kinda weird, I gotta admit it was my favorite part about the new episode. I love the central conflict that goes on between Siren and Kappa, and, this is such a unique way of reminding that to the reader. I like how Wendy creates new tropes rather than old ones
