"There's some things you need to know if you're going to be a courier for Mr. Charon, Hermes. Don't be late, don't ask about that purple stuff he smokes, and never--and I mean NEVER--stare at his scars."
"Pfft, no sweat!"
It's a modern AU I'm making. 🤪

I am so glad you suggested baby Dathar because that means I get to showcase his baby stripes..... they haven't grown in yet

(dimensional Dathar and origami Khai were also suggested by May and Charon so they're here too) https://t.co/TBXHRDIavS

"Their passion blazed as hot as the Mexican sun -- and as glorious as the gold they hunted."

Warner Books, 1988
Illus. by Sharon Spiak, who I learned was an apprentice to Pino. I also discovered some of her original paintings for covers can be purchased, for between 5k & 10k!

Kelly exhibits hypocrisy in begging a mutant to help his wife. Psylocke does, but only by easing the pain of Sharon’s passing. Kelly, failing to see the role of the Sentinel program in initiating the conflict, simply takes this as further reason to hate mutants. 8/9

Instead, we get a tale of heroism. When their limo is randomly destroyed in a Mastermold attack, Sharon exhibits both humanity and compassion in saving both her husband and Rogue. Even when she’s dying, she begs Robert to warn the X-Men that the sentinel is still active. 7/9

She’s contrasted effectively in this through Kelly’s discomfort, and later admonishment. He is ashamed of where she came from. Sharon isn’t. 5/9

We are first introduced to Sharon as she arrives at the Hellfire Club during a meeting between her husband (Senator Robert Kelly) and Sebastian Shaw. It’s revealed that Sharon was a Hellfire Club servant before marrying the senator. 2/9

Sharon Kelly is introduced to the readers in UXM and is all-but killed in that same issue. She’s a character whose entire life and especially death exist in service to the plot, but, in spite of that, Claremont gives her story complexity, contradiction, and pathos. 1/9

Charon in Greek Mythology is a ferryman who works for Hades, serving as a guide for departed souls into the underworld. Lilly the Coyote serves this archetype, escorting our heroes from the land of the living and into the land of the dead.
