Originally, I used the image on the left I found online as a reference, but in the sketch I did on the right it lacked something interesting. The design felt generic. I wanted to ground the design in something besides the fact the reference had a star in it like the US flag does.

well after i think about a week or so of learning this is where im at. i can sculpt a basic face mesh with no reference, i havent tried it yet but i have a good grasp on how to form a torso from studying anatomy. and im sure i can make most characters if im using a ref sheet.

Monkey's Paw! Haven't drawn Azoth in a while and never drawn him in colour, so here ya go!

This is one of those assignments that's like, oh biscuits, it's gonna be a muddy mess so fast. But if you have good reference, you can play with what's logical.

Because if you make that elf too seen, it'll be confused as a creature card. That's what an art director looks for.
