OTD 1602 Chichester took Tyrone's stronghold at Inishloughan. Held by 42 shot and 20 swordsmen, it had'2 deep ditches both compassed with strong palisades...high and thick rampeire..well flanked with bulwarks'. It had little chance against well-placed artillery #nineyearswar
@mrmoncus Hey MrMoncus! I'm James/Keithy and I'm an aspiring concept artist/character designer. I love working with bright lights and colours ^.^

@DT2ComicsChat @EddieSteak @tstrike78 @CaptMarvelology @JaySandlin_ @2chzcakes @JLAvenger @ToddStayton @ComicCrusaders I'd rather see good content with the legions of Spiders they already have. I feel like Noir is a character that's really untapped, and nobody seems to want to get Ben Reilly right or even understand why he has a fanbase.
Also, I dig 1602 Spidey for some weird reason.
The Entombment of Christ (1602) shows the artist’s amazing power of composition. The Crowning with Thorns (1602) & Taking of Christ (1602) also demonstrate his understanding of chiaroscuro- the treatment of light & shade. The latter includes his lantern holding self-portrait
Even after the devastating defeat of Tyrone & his allies at Kinsale in 1601, Mountjoy thought better of trying to force this pass in Summer campaign 1602. Rather than hammer his way to Dunagannon, Mountjoy sidestepped the defences, building Charlemont Fort a few miles downriver

@ChroniclesNutty You'd be surprised, not everyone has cannon and Ireland isn't the best place to be moving them about. One at Loughbrickland bombarded in 1642 but still took amphibious assault before it fell. Also Crown not adverse to reusing them, as at Augher in 1602
OTD 1602 Mountjoy besieged Tyrone's crannog stronghold on Roughan Lough. The Irish put up stout resistance but surrendered when fieldworks and cannon were brought to bear. Captured English cannon were found inside likely those lost at the Yellow Ford 4 years earlier #nineyearswar
Rubens’ parents fled Antwerp for Cologne to avoid religious persecution. He was born in Siegen & christened in Cologne. His father became an advisor to Anna of Saxony. Portrait (1597), Adam & Eve (1599) & the Deposition (1602).
